In a proactive step to strengthen civil society and community engagement, the Najaf Technical Institute, in cooperation with the National Security Service (Security Training Department) and the Najaf Security Directorate, organized a comprehensive educational workshop entitled “Najaf Free of Drugs – The Role of the Security Police.” The workshop targeted first-year students in the departments of Medical Devices, Communications, Legal Administration, and Optometry.
Lecturer Dr. Alaa Abis Radhi presented an interactive session on the catastrophic health and psychological effects of drugs, highlighting the legal implications of Law No. (50) of 2017.
For his part, the Dean of the Institute, Professor Dr. Haider Hassan Al-Abdali, stated that these activities represent an ambitious foundation for building responsible student awareness. He emphasized that the Institute prioritizes the protection of the university community through effective partnerships with security organizations. Students were advised to be wary of negative peer influences and were introduced to the rapid response hotline (131) for reporting suspicious activity, with assurances of confidentiality and anonymity.
The workshop concluded with ongoing recommendations to increase the frequency of regular seminars, establish joint communication channels between students and the educational institution, and maintain campus safety and financial security measures regarding food and prohibited items.
