As part of a remarkable environmental initiative aimed at promoting sustainability and spreading a culture of green environment, the Najaf Technical Institute hosted a three-day flower exhibition this week, which saw wide participation from various agricultural nurseries in the province.
The exhibition was inaugurated by the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Professor Hassan Al-Zubaidi, in the presence of his assistants for scientific and administrative affairs, Professor Ahmed Ghanem Wadai and Professor Mohammed Al-Majtoumi. The Dean of the Technical Institute, Professor Haider Hassan Al-Abdali, oversaw the organization of this environmental event, emphasizing the importance of these initiatives in instilling environmental awareness among students and the community.
The participating nurseries added beauty and elegance to the halls of the institute, displaying approximately 5,000 diverse seedlings and flowers, including seasonal flowers, shade shrubs, and various ornamental plants. The bright colors of the flowers blended with shades of green, creating a joyful springtime scene that captivated the hearts of visitors. This year’s exhibition featured a unique touch, featuring a special corner displaying colorful ornamental birds, an apiary displaying various types of pure natural honey, and a fully functional beehive. This provided visitors with the opportunity to learn about the world of bees and their environmental importance.
The exhibition was vibrant over the course of three days and was well-received by the institute’s students, staff, and employees, who praised this valuable environmental initiative. The institute’s flower nursery also had a distinguished presence and active participation, along with the Agricultural Unit, which presented a distinguished presentation of its activities.
As part of the institute’s Women’s Affairs Unit’s environmental activities, a team from the unit distributed eco-friendly jugs bearing slogans encouraging care for the environment and plants, in addition to distributing ready-to-germinate seeds. This step aims to instill a culture of environmental concern in students.
This exhibition is a positive and motivating step for students to adopt environmentally friendly behaviors and reflects the Najaf Technical Institute’s commitment to promoting environmental awareness and contributing to sustainable development in society.
