Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdul Hussein Al-Mousawi, has directed the immediate suspension of the acceptance of all applications related to the establishment of new private universities and colleges, as well as applications for the opening of new academic departments within existing private institutions, effective Tuesday, 30 June 2026.
This directive is part of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s strategic vision to regulate the private higher education sector and reassess its development in a manner that ensures the consolidation of the educational process and enhances the quality of academic performance.
