In response to current environmental challenges, and based on direct instructions from Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Najaf Technical Institute launched a comprehensive afforestation campaign aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and beautifying the university environment.
This campaign was supervised by Professor Dr. Haider Hassan Al-Abdali, Dean of the Institute, with the active participation of senior staff at the Institute, the head of the Agricultural Unit, and a select group of academic professors. This initiative coincides with the beginning of September and the start of the new academic year 2024-2025, giving it an educational and awareness-raising aspect.
The campaign included planting (200) seedlings out of a total of (1,600) seedlings of various tree and flower species prepared by the Agricultural Unit for the Institute’s afforestation campaign. The campaign aims to increase green spaces on campus, improve air quality, and provide a more comfortable and attractive environment for students and staff. This step is part of the institute’s broader vision to integrate environmental sustainability concepts into all its activities and a practical embodiment of its responsibility towards society and the environment.
Professor Dr. Haider Hassan Al-Abdali emphasized the importance of this campaign, saying, “At Najaf Technical Institute, we believe that education is not limited to the classroom, but extends to include our responsibility towards our environment. This campaign is a clear message to our students and our community that preserving the environment is our collective duty.”
The campaign continues to inspire the academic community, emphasizes the role of educational institutions in leading environmental efforts, and supports Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University’s vision of building a greener and more sustainable future.
