The Oil Refining Technology Department at Najaf Technical Institute held a course entitled (Fluid Transport Pipes and Methods of Supporting Them) lectured by Mr. M.M. Qasim Hamoudi Hassan in Hall G3 of the Scientific Complex.
The course addressed the types of pipes and the materials from which they are made depending on the transported materials and methods of connecting and welding them and the types of mechanical and chemical failure that pipes are exposed to in different applications, as well as the various protection methods that can protect pipes from corrosion and erosion. The course also addressed the methods of supporting various types of pipes, including those visible and underground, with metal and concrete supports and others.
Course topics:
1) A detailed explanation of the different types of pipes and the materials used in their manufacture, with a focus on choosing the appropriate materials according to the nature of the transported fluids.
2) Presentation of methods of connecting and welding pipes, and the importance of these operations in ensuring the safety and efficiency of transportation systems.
3) Explanation of the types of failure that pipes are exposed to, whether mechanical or chemical, in various applications.
4) Review of the various protection methods that contribute to preserving pipes from corrosion and erosion, and extending their service life.
5) A detailed explanation of methods of supporting pipes, whether superficial or underground.
6) Presentation of the types of supports used, such as metal and concrete supports, and the importance of choosing the appropriate type according to operating conditions.
In the same context, the Dean of the Institute, Professor Dr. Al-Abdeli, stated, “Organizing this course on fluid transport pipes and their support reflects the Institute’s commitment to supporting the national oil industry. We confirm that our activities and training courses contribute directly to developing national competencies, and providing them with the necessary knowledge in the field of oil pollution reduction techniques, and modern methods for maintaining the sustainability of the oil industry. We appreciate the efforts of the Oil Refining Technology Department in presenting this valuable course, and we look forward to more initiatives that serve the Iraqi oil sector.” This course aims to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills in the field of fluid transport pipes, including the selection of appropriate pipes, methods of their installation and maintenance, and protection from damage. Fluid transport pipes are essential elements in many industries, especially the oil and gas industry. Therefore, understanding the methods of designing, installing and maintaining these pipes is essential to ensure the safety and efficiency of industrial operations.
