The Accounting Techniques Department is organizing a workshop on the early signs of breast cancer, presented by Dr. Azra Al-Adhari. Breast cancer is a type of cancer that forms in the cells of the breasts. It is the second most common cancer in women in the United States, after skin cancer. Breast cancer affects both men and women, but it is more common among women. The significant support for breast cancer awareness and research funding has led to advancements in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Survival rates for breast cancer patients have increased, and mortality rates associated with the disease have steadily decreased, largely due to factors such as early detection, new treatment approaches tailored to each patient's condition, and an improved understanding of the disease. Signs and symptoms of breast cancer may include: A lump or thickening in the breast that differs from surrounding tissue Changes in the size, shape, or appearance of the breast Changes in the skin of the breast, such as dimpling A newly inverted nipple Peeling, scaling, or stiffness of the skin around the nipple (areola) or the breast skin Redness or puckering of the breast skin, resembling the texture of an orange peel.
