Najaf Technical Institute, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, witnessed a specialized scientific symposium entitled “Entrepreneurship in Civil Engineering: The Path to Building a Smart and Sustainable Future”. The symposium was held on Sunday, December 1, in the Scientific Complex Hall, with the attendance of an elite group of engineers and those interested in the construction and building sector, especially professors and students from the Department of Civil Engineering Technology.
The symposium was delivered by Dr. Hussam Abbas Mohsen, who addressed a wide range of topics that highlight the importance of entrepreneurship in civil engineering, and how this creative spark can ignite a revolution in the construction and building sector.
Symposium topics:
- The convergence of creativity and technology: Dr. Hussam reviewed how civil engineering can be an incubator for innovation, and provided practical examples of innovative projects that combined entrepreneurship and infrastructure.
- The pivotal role of technology: He highlighted the importance of modern technology, such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, in improving the efficiency of engineering projects. He also explained how Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology can contribute to achieving sustainability.
- Building the Future: Dr. Hussam discussed how entrepreneurship can contribute to building smart and sustainable cities, citing case studies of successful entrepreneurial projects around the world.
- Effective Partnerships: He stressed the importance of building effective cooperation between the academic and private sectors, as well as the importance of forming international partnerships to expand the scope of entrepreneurial projects.
- Youth Empowerment: He urged young people to transform their ideas into entrepreneurial projects, pointing out the basic skills they need to succeed in the competitive labor market.
- Challenges and Opportunities: He analyzed the reality of entrepreneurship in the construction and building sector at the local level, and proposed strategies to overcome the challenges facing entrepreneurs in this field.
The symposium received great interaction from the attendees, who praised the importance of the topics raised and emphasized their role in developing the engineering sector in Iraq. They also praised the efforts of the Technical Institute in Najaf in organizing such events that contribute to raising awareness of the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship. In his meeting, the Dean of the Institute stated regarding the symposium, saying (Integrating creativity with modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and building information modeling opens new horizons for civil engineers to innovate innovative solutions to infrastructure problems. These solutions are not limited to the technical aspect only, but extend to include achieving sustainability and sustainable development.) In conclusion, this symposium is an important step towards promoting the culture of entrepreneurship in the field of civil engineering in Iraq, and opens new horizons for young engineers to transform their ideas into a tangible reality that contributes to building a more sustainable and prosperous future
