📋 About the Department

Specialized in the Department of Specialized Technologies: One of the main departments at the Technical Institute/Najaf, it was established with the institute’s founding in 1978 as the Electrical Installations Branch. With the expansion of the new department’s activities in technical education, it came to include two branches: Electrical Engineering and Electrical Components. Following the scientific advancements in the field of communications, a Communications Branch was established as a sub-branch of the Electrical Engineering Department. In 1987, the Electrical Installations and Electrical Components Branches were merged into a single branch: the Electrical Power Branch, which later became the nucleus of the Electrical Engineering Department. Continuing to keep pace with beneficial technological developments in the energy sector, and in the institute’s commitment to developing its academic and scientific curricula, including adapting to global trends towards clean energy, the New Energy Branch was established in the 2025-2026 academic year. Since then, the department has operated two main branches:
