📋 About the Central Library
The Library of Najaf Technical Institute was established in 1978. The Institute Deanship has given great attention to the library. In 2023, under the supervision of Dr. Haider Al-Abdali, the library was renovated, furnished, and equipped with computers and printers to improve the services provided to students, researchers, and staff.

Keeping pace with scientific development in all fields in order to provide academic and research benefits for staff members, researchers, and students within Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, the institute, and different segments of society.

- Encouraging students to read and developing their interest in reading so that it becomes a genuine habit during their free time.
- Developing students’ ability to rely on themselves in acquiring knowledge and conducting research using different sources and references.
- Integrating various fields of human knowledge to support comprehensive learning.
- Contributing to building responsible citizens by providing intellectual and cultural resources.
- Supporting researchers in applying theoretical and scientific curricula since research is the foundation of academic learning.

🗂️ Tasks
- Cataloging and classifying books and providing guidance to students and staff, as well as purchasing new books.
📚 Central Library Activities
- Borrowing books through a special library card issued for each staff member or student.
- Recording book title, author name, borrowing date, and return date in the library borrowing register.
- Monitoring borrowing deadlines and notifying borrowers about return dates.
- Renewing the borrowing period if the borrower still needs the book and it is available.
- Official notification through the institute administration if books are not returned on time.
- Following book exhibitions and new publications to enrich the library collection.
- Holding meetings with department heads and faculty members to identify required scientific resources.
- Issuing library cards for students and staff.
- Annual inventory of books and educational materials for departments.
- Evaluating books donated to the library.
- Participating in the annual student registration committee in the library hall.
- Preparing statistical reports required by the institute or university.
- Lending approximately 50 books daily to students and staff for research purposes.
- Receiving students daily in the reading hall from 8:00 AM until the end of official working hours.
- Continuous monitoring of book borrowers by the library director.
- Classifying books according to the Dewey Decimal System.
- Preparing book cards to facilitate tracking and organization.
- Organizing exhibitions for scientific departments during University Day.
- Holding an annual book exhibition for two weeks in cooperation with publishing houses.
- Hosting the annual cultural festival of the university in the library hall.
- Organizing a flower exhibition on University Day.
- Holding workshops to guide graduates about future projects.
- Hosting the new student registration committee annually for about one month.
