Community Service
The Department of Oil Refining Technologies has been keen on providing knowledge and skills to the community and state institutions by organizing many workshops, training courses, and scientific seminars presented by the faculty members. The aim was to identify problems and suggest appropriate solutions. Additionally, there has been scientific collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, Industrial Development and Organization Department, through training programs that contribute to enhancing the abilities and qualifications of students' outputs. These programs equip them with the necessary tools and skills in entrepreneurship for small and medium-sized projects, which contribute to the development and stimulation of innovation among students, and enhance their knowledge skills and employability in the labor market.









Scientific Visit Activity
Students of the Oil Refining Technologies Department organize a scientific visit to the Midland Refineries Company / Najaf Refinery.
Under the guidance of the Dean of Al-Najaf Technical Institute, Professor Dr. Haider Hassan Al-Abdali, to extend the framework of cooperation between state institutions and higher education to enhance the practical and field aspects for the students of the institute,
the Oil Refining Technologies Department at Al-Najaf Technical Institute, one of the formations of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, organized a scientific visit for first-year students of both morning and evening studies to Najaf Refinery, accompanied by the head of the department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Salah Mahdi Saleh Al-Husseini, and a number of teaching staff members.
The visit aimed to strengthen the practical aspect by linking theoretical concepts to practical applications in the oil industry, understanding safety conditions, and industrial equipment in the refinery's production lines.
The visit included an introductory session by the senior engineering staff at the refinery, which provided a detailed explanation of the operating conditions of refining units, crude oil processing operations, as well as a field tour in one of the refining units, quality control laboratories, and testing the quality of oil products to ensure the success of API specifications tests.
In the same context, Al-Husseini discussed with the refinery manager and the head of the training unit enhancing joint scientific cooperation, exchanging expertise, and the possibility of summer training for students to qualify and develop their practical skills.
At the end of the visit, the head of the Oil Refining Department expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the refinery manager, Engineer Laith Abdul Rasool Al-Ghraoui, and the engineering staff for their warm reception and continuous cooperation in service of the public interest.
