📋 About the Department

The Oil Refining Technologies Department was established in July 2024 and is one of the engineering departments at the Najaf Technical Institute. It was created at the beginning of the 2024-2025 academic year, according to Ministerial Order No. (MT/6911 dated 25/7/2024) issued by the Department of Studies, Planning, and Follow-up. It is one of the few scientific departments in the Middle Euphrates region, graduating mid-level technical personnel with a technical diploma in oil refining. The department focuses on meeting the needs of the oil and industrial sectors, which will contribute effectively to improving the quality and production of oil and petrochemical industries in both the public and private sectors.

The department aims to be a cornerstone of technical education and practical training by preparing specialized technical personnel who possess the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the needs of the local and regional labor market in the fields of oil refining and petrochemicals.

To provide a high-quality technical and applied education program that enhances students’ ability to innovate and adapt to modern developments in oil refining and petroleum derivatives production, with a focus on addressing environmental pollution and achieving sustainability.

Job Description for Graduates of the Petroleum Refining Technology Department

1- Preparing Specialized Technical Personnel: Graduating qualified technical personnel capable of working in the oil and petrochemical industries and meeting the needs of the labor market
2- Operating Industrial Equipment: Supervising the operation and control of various chemical and petroleum industrial units to ensure operational efficiency
3- Maintenance Work: Performing periodic and preventive maintenance on chemical and petroleum industrial units to ensure continued efficient and safe operation
4- Conducting Technical Tests: Performing chemical and physical laboratory tests on raw materials and petroleum products according to API standards, and participating in improving and developing production within industrial units
5- Ensuring Quality: Applying quality standards at all stages of work, with familiarity with the necessary industrial charts and diagrams to execute tasks accurately
