📋 About the Department

The Optometry Techniques Department was established in the 2019–2020 academic year in response to the labor market’s need for specialized medical technicians in the examination and diagnosis of visual problems. Evening studies were introduced in the department for the 2020–2021 academic year to expand educational opportunities. The department aims to prepare scientifically and practically qualified personnel capable of using modern technologies, thereby contributing to the enhancement of vision healthcare services and serving the community.

We strive to achieve local leadership in vision testing technologies and aspire to keep pace with the latest global advancements.

The Optometry Department strives to equip graduates with the latest knowledge and skills related to optometry services and to meet the community’s needs with qualified personnel capable of adapting to labor market demands, while maintaining a culture focused on serving the public and instilling ethical values ​​in society.

  • To prepare highly qualified graduates in the field of optometry and vision correction, capable of working efficiently in various healthcare institutions.
  • To provide outstanding educational and training programs that comply with the latest international standards in optometry techniques.
  • To conduct scientific research in the field of eye health care and publish the results in specialized scientific journals.
  • To contribute to providing eye health care services to the community by establishing educational and awareness programs and providing free optometry services to those in need.
  • To enhance cooperation with relevant local and international institutions in the field of optometry techniques.

The department graduates over (100) students annually who work in several fields, most notably:
1- Eye examination and vision assessment.
2- Vision correction and strabismus correction.
3- Working in eyeglass lens fitting workshops.
4- Using medical computers in eye examinations and assessments.
5- Prescribing eyeglasses, contact lenses, and various ocular and visual alternatives.
6- Eyeglass repair and maintenance of optical equipment.
