The Women’s Affairs Division Translates the University’s Role in Environmental Protection into a Field Initiative

In a scene reflecting a spirit of institutional responsibility and concern for the environment, the Women’s Affairs Division at the Headquarters of Middle Euphrates Technical University organized a tree-planting campaign throughout the university headquarters and its surrounding areas, with the participation of University President Prof. Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, Scientific Assistant Dr. Ahmed Ghanem Wadai, and a number of deans of the university’s colleges and directors of departments.

The campaign aimed to expand green spaces and promote a culture of environmental conservation within the university institution.

The campaign included planting a number of trees and plants throughout the university headquarters, with active participation from university leadership. The initiative brought together institutional action and environmental practice, providing a practical example of the importance of collective efforts in supporting initiatives that contribute to improving the university environment and making it more beautiful and sustainable.

The Women’s Affairs Division stated that the campaign is part of the activities implemented under the frameworks of the National Strategy for Iraqi Women, particularly those related to enhancing the role of women in environmental protection and contributing to sustainable development. Choosing the university headquarters as the venue for the campaign reflects the importance of transforming environmental principles and orientations into tangible practices within the university environment.

The campaign also sought to raise awareness of the importance of tree planting, given its role in improving the urban landscape, supporting the environment, and strengthening a sense of belonging and responsibility toward the surrounding space.

The campaign witnessed positive engagement from the participants. The participation of the University President, deans of the university’s colleges, and department directors reinforced the message of the initiative: that the university is not merely an institution for education and scientific research, but also an active partner in building a community that is aware of environmental responsibility and sustainable development.

This initiative is part of a series of activities carried out by the Women’s Affairs Division at the University Headquarters, aimed at activating the frameworks of the National Strategy for Iraqi Women through programs and initiatives with practical and community impact, while strengthening the presence and role of women in developmental and environmental issues.
