Under the continuous and direct guidance of the Dean of Al-Najaf Technical Institute, Professor Dr. Haider Hassan Al-Abdali, and in line with the Institute’s vision of equipping students with advanced practical medical skills through training in reputable healthcare institutions, students of the Dental Prevention and Orthodontic Techniques Department continue to successfully participate in their summer field training program.

The Government Media and Communication Division accompanied the field visit to monitor the students’ progress alongside the Institute’s academic supervisor, Mr. Saif Sultan. During the visit, the delegation met with the practical training supervisor at the Dental Clinic of Al-Hakeem General Hospital, Mr. Ahmed Riyadh Hashem Al-Miyali.

The training program was carefully organized by dividing the students into rotating groups scheduled throughout the week to ensure maximum individual learning opportunities. The students demonstrated outstanding enthusiasm, dedication, and commitment to applying the theoretical knowledge they had acquired at the Institute within a real clinical environment.

The dental staff at the hospital provided comprehensive hands-on training in preventive and therapeutic dental practices, focusing on the following key areas:

  • Infection Control and Sterilization: Practical training on sterilizing dental instruments, selecting appropriate disinfectants, and operating the Autoclave to maintain a safe and sterile clinical environment.
  • Dental Radiography: Introduction to the different types of dental X-ray imaging and training on the correct scientific techniques for acquiring diagnostic images.
  • Scaling and Polishing (Scaling & Polish): Hands-on practice in using ultrasonic scaling equipment to remove dental calculus, followed by polishing procedures using specialized polishing brushes and prophylactic pastes.
  • Periodontal Examination and Prevention: Training in preventive dental assessment, diagnosis of periodontal diseases, understanding their causes and treatment methods, and educating patients on maintaining proper oral hygiene and preventive oral healthcare.

The Deanship of Al-Najaf Technical Institute expresses its pride in the remarkable level of professionalism, commitment, and excellence demonstrated by its students throughout their field training. The Institute also extends its sincere gratitude and appreciation to the administration of Al-Hakeem General Hospital and the entire staff of the Dental Unit and Clinic for their invaluable cooperation, generous support, warm hospitality, and continuous contribution to preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals and dental technologists.
