In a step that reinforces the international academic presence of Iraqi scholars, Professor Dr. Haider Hassan Al-Abdali, Dean of Al-Najaf Technical Institute, one of the institutions of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, participated as an External Examiner in the defense of a distinguished PhD dissertation in the field of engineering at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Malaysia. The defense was conducted virtually via Microsoft Teams.
The public defense featured PhD candidate Ahmed Issa Faisal Al-Saadawi, who presented his dissertation entitled:
“Optimization of the Aerodynamic Performance of Archimedes Spiral Wind Turbines via Parametric Variation in Blade Geometry and Surface Modification Techniques.”
The research focused on enhancing the aerodynamic performance of Archimedes spiral wind turbines through innovative techniques involving blade geometry optimization and surface modification.
During the session, Professor Dr. Al-Abdali delivered a comprehensive scientific and critical evaluation of the dissertation, offering insightful observations and valuable recommendations that enriched the practical aspects of the research and strengthened its contribution to addressing renewable energy challenges. His role as an External Examiner at a prestigious Malaysian university reflects the distinguished academic reputation and scientific expertise of the leadership at Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University.
Following the defense, Professor Dr. Al-Abdali expressed his pride in the high academic standard demonstrated by the candidate. He commended Mr. Al-Saadawi for his exceptional efforts, his confident and well-structured defense of the dissertation, and his thoughtful responses to the examination committee’s questions, highlighting the strong academic preparation and global competitiveness of Iraqi researchers.
