Coinciding with the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, and as part of its efforts to achieve sustainable development goals and improve the university environment, the Najaf Technical Institute at Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University launched a large-scale tree planting campaign. The campaign aims to expand the green cover and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the campus.

The campaign was launched under the direct guidance and field supervision of the Dean of the Institute, Professor Dr. Haider Hassan Al-Abdali, who emphasized the importance of transforming neglected areas into green oases that contribute to creating a healthy and ideal learning environment for students and staff.

The campaign included planting more than 200 evergreen trees and expanding the green space. Strategic locations were selected for planting, focusing on:

  1. The area surrounding the cosmetic and laser technology laboratories.
  2. The gardens adjacent to the various academic departments.
  3. The development and landscaping of the graduation platform garden, to add an aesthetic touch befitting graduation ceremonies and official institute events. The campaign was carried out through the exceptional efforts of the “Agricultural Unit Heroes” at the institute, who worked diligently to ensure that the trees were planted according to scientific agricultural standards that guarantee their sustainability and healthy growth, serving as a permanent “green lung” for future generations of students.

This initiative underscores the Najaf Technical Institute’s commitment to international environmental standards and its alignment of urban and scientific development with increased green spaces, contributing to reduced carbon emissions and a more pleasant atmosphere within the educational institution
