Under the slogan “Nonviolence is the Weapon of the Strong,” the Department of Computer Networks and Software Technologies at Al-Najaf Technical Institute / Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University concluded its series of awareness activities by organizing a workshop entitled “Rejecting Violence and Promoting Peace.”
The workshop was delivered by Lecturer Falah Hassan Neama on Thursday, February 19.
In his remarks on this concluding activity, the Dean of the Institute, Professor Dr. Haider Hassan Al-Abdali, stated:
The workshop presented an intellectual roadmap for promoting peace through key dimensions:
- Educational Dimension: Highlighting the role of family and education in instilling values of tolerance, compassionate upbringing, and acceptance of others.
- Religious and Ethical Dimension: Emphasizing the values of mercy in Islam and rejecting intolerance and hatred in all their forms.
- Rights-Based and Developmental Dimension: Reviewing the concept of “nonviolence” as a force for change and the importance of “positive peace” that achieves social justice and equality.
The workshop concluded by stressing the necessity of adopting dialogue as a strategic alternative to violence and called for empowering youth to actively participate in development strategies and sustainable peacebuilding, thereby fostering a safe educational and social environment.
