In a pioneering step towards a sustainable environment, the Department of Oil Refining Technologies launched a large-scale tree-planting campaign in the department’s gardens, led by the department head, Dr. Salah Mahdi Saleh, with the enthusiastic participation of staff and students. They planted 200 diverse seedlings of roses and shrubs, embodying their commitment to improving the climate discourse of the Iraqi oil industry and mitigating global warming.
This initiative emulates the campaigns launched by the institute on the second anniversary of Iraqi Tree Planting Day in March, and is part of a broader campaign by the Technical Institute, which planted 5,000 seedlings. The institute further strengthened its efforts by holding an exhibition of flowers, plants, and apiaries last April. The institute thus affirms its unwavering commitment to creating a sustainable green environment.
The Dean of the Technical Institute, Professor Dr. Haider Al-Abdeli, expressed his pride in the important environmental initiative undertaken by the Department of Oil Refining Technologies, its staff, and students. He emphasized that this qualitative step embodies the high environmental awareness and unwavering commitment of the Institute’s members to the importance of effectively contributing to achieving sustainability and environmental protection. He noted that these blessed efforts align with the Institute’s vision of building a green and sustainable future for society.
