Najaf Technical Institute organized a specialized training course entitled “Media Dimensions of the Gaza and Lebanon War”, which lasted for three days from February 25 to 27 and was attended by an elite group of academics and media specialists.
The course, which was attended by a number of students and those interested in media affairs, addressed the role of the media in covering conflicts and the impact of media coverage on local and international public opinion.
The first day of the course was opened by Dr. Ahmed Al-Essa with an analytical lecture in which he discussed the media strategies used in covering wars, the role of war media in shaping public opinion, and the impact of media deception in political and military conflicts.
In the second lecture, Dr. Hawra Shiaa Sharhan presented an in-depth analysis of the media war in Gaza and Lebanon from a legal and media perspective, explaining the methods of propaganda and psychological warfare practiced by the media, in addition to the impact of social media in transmitting news and formulating media narratives. In the third lecture, Professor Nour Al-Huda Al-Basri explained the importance of raising awareness among participants about the mechanisms of media coverage of conflicts, enhancing critical thinking towards information circulated in traditional and digital media, in addition to highlighting the ethical and professional dimensions of war coverage. The organizers of the course stressed that such events contribute to preparing aware media cadres capable of dealing with crises with high professionalism and professionalism, stressing the importance of enhancing media awareness in light of the rapid geopolitical developments. In the same context, the Dean of the Institute, Professor Dr. Haider Hassan Al-Abdeli, stated, “I would like to commend the distinguished lecturers, Dr. Ahmed Al-Essa, Dr. Hawra Shiaa Sharhan, and Ms. Nour Al-Huda Al-Basri, for the in-depth analyses and valuable insights they provided on media strategies, the role of war media, the impact of media deception, and the legal and ethical dimensions of conflict coverage. I believe that such events contribute to building a generation of media professionals capable of providing responsible and objective media coverage that contributes to promoting peace and stability in our region and the world.” In conclusion, the training course organized by the Najaf Technical Institute emphasizes the increasing importance of media in our current era, especially in times of conflict. The course contributed to shedding light on the various dimensions of media in the Gaza and Lebanon wars, through in-depth analyses provided by an elite group of academics and specialists. Through this course, the Najaf Technical Institute contributes to preparing a new generation of aware and responsible media professionals, capable of dealing with contemporary media challenges.
