As part of the ongoing efforts to promote a culture of traffic safety and joint cooperation between government institutions, the Criminal Evidence and Justice Department at Najaf Technical Institute organized a scientific symposium entitled “Traffic Accidents and Safety Conditions”. Colonel Qusay Shaker Al-Ghazi, Director of the Media and Relations Division at the Najaf Traffic Department, lectured in it, presenting a comprehensive vision on the most important vital issues related to road safety.
The symposium was opened with a welcoming speech by the Head of the Criminal Evidence and Justice Department, Dr. Haider Rasool Al-Kaabi, where the great impact of traffic accidents on society was highlighted in terms of social and economic aspects, and the importance of adopting safe driving behaviors.
Colonel Al-Ghazi continued his speech by giving a detailed presentation on the basic foundations of safe driving, stressing the need to adhere to traffic rules and avoid reckless behavior that poses a danger to lives and property.
In his speech, Colonel Al-Ghazi addressed the main causes of traffic accidents, such as driving at excessive speeds, lack of attention while driving, and using mobile phones. He also reviewed a set of statistics related to the reality of accidents in Najaf, highlighting the urgent need to educate drivers and pedestrians to take the necessary preventive measures. In his comment, the Dean of the Technical Institute, Professor Dr. Haider Hassan Al-Abdeli, praised the seminar, saying, “This seminar comes at the heart of the message of the Najaf Technical Institute, which is to contribute effectively to serving the community. We believe that science and knowledge are the most powerful tools to confront the challenges we face, and traffic accidents are one of these challenges that we must all work together to reduce. Our cooperation with the Najaf Traffic Department in this seminar is a model of fruitful partnership between academic and governmental institutions, and we look forward to more of these initiatives in the future.” The seminar concluded with the distribution of comprehensive awareness brochures that contained valuable tips and guidelines on traffic safety, with the aim of raising awareness among students and the local community. The initiative was well received by the attendees, who expressed their desire to actively participate in similar future initiatives to promote a culture of responsible driving. This seminar is considered an important step towards reducing traffic accident rates and establishing road safety concepts, in order to preserve lives and property
