Under the direction of the Dean of Najaf Technical Institute, Professor Dr. Haider Al-Abdeli, the Department of Criminal Evidence and Justice organized a scientific symposium entitled “Blackmail Behind Screens: Digital Risks and Realistic Solutions”. The symposium was held on Monday, February 17, in the symposium hall of the Najaf International Book Fair in its fourth edition, and witnessed a remarkable attendance of students and professors, reflecting the growing interest in the risks of electronic blackmail.
The symposium was opened by Professor Nour Al-Huda Al-Basri, a lecturer in the Department of Criminal Evidence, who welcomed the attendees and pointed out the importance of discussing digital challenges in our current era. The students present at the symposium gave presentations and explanations about digital blackmail, its causes and repercussions. The symposium witnessed a direct dialogue with the students as a workshop, where each student expressed his opinion through quotations from Iraqi law and blackmail issues raised by the Iraqi Ministry of Interior, or through real stories circulated by the community. They also did not neglect to provide realistic solutions and practical proposals to combat this growing phenomenon.
The topics raised were diverse, which enriched the discussion and opened broader horizons for understanding this contemporary issue. The symposium was characterized by great interaction from the audience, as the students participated with their questions and inquiries, which gave the event an interactive and purposeful character.
For his part, the Dean of the Najaf Technical Institute, Professor Dr. Haider Al-Abdeli, stressed the importance of continuing to organize such scientific symposia that contribute to raising the level of awareness among students and the community about forensic evidence issues and emerging digital challenges
