In a step towards linking theory to reality and to extend the frameworks of cooperation between state institutions and higher education, students of the Oil Refining Technology Department at Najaf Technical Institute paid a scientific visit to Najaf Refinery, where they discovered the world of the oil industry up close. This visit, which was organized under the direction of the Dean of the Institute, Professor Dr. Haider Al-Abdeli, aimed to enhance the practical aspect of students and connect them to the labor market.
The students were accompanied on this visit by the Head of the Department, Dr. Salah Al-Hussaini, and a number of faculty members. The visit included an introductory tour of the various units of the refinery, where students learned about the complex processes of converting crude oil into final products. They also visited the quality control laboratories, where they saw how the quality of products is tested to ensure that they comply with international specifications.
In the same context, the Dean of the Institute, Dr. Al-Abdali, said, “I am very pleased with the success of this scientific visit. It is an important step towards achieving our vision of graduating engineers who are able to compete in the labor market. It also emphasizes the importance of partnership between educational and industrial institutions in building a better future for our country.” The students expressed their happiness with this visit, stressing that it was a golden opportunity to learn about the practical side of refining engineers. One of the students said, “This visit opened new horizons for us, and gave us a greater motivation to continue our studies and develop our skills.” For his part, the Director of the Refinery, Eng. Laith Abdul Rasoul Al-Gharawi, stressed the importance of such visits in building a bridge of communication between academic institutions and industry.
