First-stage students of the Oil Refining Technology Department attended a specialized workshop on carpentry in mechanical workshops, as part of the institute’s keenness to provide students with the practical skills necessary for the labor market within its technical education program.
The workshop provided a comprehensive explanation of the concept of carpentry and its types, focusing on furniture carpentry, architectural carpentry, and trade trends. Students were also introduced to the different types of wood used in this industry, with an emphasis on the importance of industrial safety and the need to implement the best work tools. The practical part of the workshop includes training students in various Indian engineering industries, such as the Chinese industry, which contributes to developing their skills and expertise in this field.

    The Dean of the Technical Institute, Professor Dr. Haider Al-Abdeli, praised the role of the professors supervising the workshop, and urged students to make the most of this opportunity, stating (Carpentry, lathe and other craft skills are a natural complement to your theoretical studies. They help you apply theoretical knowledge on the ground, and contribute to developing your creative thinking and craft skills).

At the end of the workshop, the supervising professors stressed the importance of these training programs and practical workshops in the practical application aspect that students undergo at the institute, which contributes to developing students’ capabilities, noting that the institute strives to provide its students with the latest knowledge and skills that enable them to compete in the labor market.
