Under the direct supervision of the Dean of Najaf Technical Institute, Professor Dr. Haider Hassan Al-Abdali, and in line with his directives to solidify occupational safety concepts and enhance students’ preparedness to face potential hazards, Najaf Technical Institute, represented by the Department of Oil Refining Technologies, organized a specialized applied workshop entitled “Fire Extinguishing Methods and Their Uses.” This workshop, held in cooperation with Al-Shammari Fire Extinguishers and Safety Company, targeted first-year students as part of a deliberate effort to enhance their preventative awareness and enable them to understand proper fire safety procedures, from prevention measures to effective emergency response methods. The workshop included a comprehensive program combining theoretical foundations with practical training. The theoretical component provided a detailed explanation of fire types and their sources, fire extinguisher classifications and their components, as well as an introduction to alarm systems and their operation. The practical component took place in the department’s outdoor area, where intensive field exercises were conducted on the use of fire extinguishers and methods of fire control. This allowed students to translate theoretical knowledge into practical skills under the supervision of lecturer Mr. Suhail. Najm Abdul, who presented an interactive training presentation that enhanced the participants’ understanding, was part of the institute’s strategy aimed at preparing technical personnel who possess the awareness and skill to deal with different work environments, especially those that involve occupational risks. He stressed the importance of practical training in building the student’s professional character. For his part, the head of the Oil Refining Technologies Department, Dr. Salah Mahdi Al-Husseini, explained that organizing this workshop comes in line with the department’s plans to consolidate the concepts of industrial safety, especially in vital specializations, noting that practical training is the cornerstone in establishing preventive behavior among students and turning it into a conscious daily practice. In conclusion, this workshop reflects the Najaf Technical Institute’s commitment to adopting a modern educational approach based on combining knowledge and application, which contributes to graduating qualified technical personnel capable of dealing efficiently with field challenges and promoting safer and more sustainable work environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
