The Najaf Technical Institute – Rehabilitation and Employment Unit held a workshop entitled “The Dangers of Illegal Migration and Its Impact on Iraqi Society.” The workshop, presented by Asst. Abdullah Zuhair Hakim, took place at the Scientific Complex Hall on Thursday, March 20.
The workshop highlighted the serious economic and social repercussions of the phenomenon of migration, emphasizing that the main causes of illegal migration include deteriorating economic conditions, high unemployment rates, and the security and political challenges facing Iraqi youth. The study, conducted by Asst. Abdullah Zuhair Hakim, demonstrated that illegal migration leads to a drain on brains and talent, contributing to a decline in national development.
It also indicated that Iraq suffers from a significant loss of qualified young talent, which negatively impacts various sectors, particularly education, health, and the economy. In this context, Professor Dr. Haider Hassan Al-Abdali, Dean of the Najaf Technical Institute, emphasized that illegal migration directly impacts societal stability through the disintegration of families and increased crime rates in some areas receiving migrants. He emphasized the need to intensify government efforts to combat this phenomenon by creating job opportunities and improving the standard of living within the country. The workshop recommended several measures to reduce illegal migration, most notably the launch of economic support programs for youth, including the provision of job opportunities, the development of professional skills, and raising community awareness of the dangers of illegal migration through the media and educational institutions. It also recommended the implementation of international agreements that help regulate legal migration and guarantee the rights of Iraqi migrants abroad. This study has received widespread attention in academic and political circles, and its findings are expected to be adopted in developing more effective national strategies to address the challenges of illegal migration in Iraq.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
