In a step that reflects the Najaf Technical Institute’s keenness on the health of its academic community, the Department of Vision Examination Techniques, in cooperation with the Department of Dental Industry Techniques and the Continuing Education Center, organized a comprehensive awareness seminar on the phenomenon of antibiotic resistance. This seminar came in response to the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research seeking to enhance health awareness among young people
The seminar was moderated by Dr. Hoda Saad, a specialist in the field of microbiology, who gave an interesting and comprehensive presentation on the causes of this growing phenomenon and its dangerous impact on human health, especially in light of the spread of infectious diseases. Dr. Saad focused on the importance of using antibiotics correctly and according to the doctor’s prescription, and avoiding their excessive use, as this contributes greatly to the emergence of drug-resistant bacterial strains. The seminar was widely attended by students and professors from various disciplines, reflecting their great interest in this vital topic. Participants expressed their enthusiasm for the information provided, stressing the importance of raising community awareness of the dangers of antibiotic resistance and how to prevent it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his speech during the symposium, the Dean of the Institute, Professor Dr. Haider Al-Abdeli, stressed the importance of such symposia in enhancing health awareness among students, noting that the Institute pays great attention to activities that contribute to developing students’ skills and increasing their knowledge in various fields. He also stressed the importance of cooperation between educational and health institutions to address the health challenges facing the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Dean, Dr. Al-Abdeli, added: “Antibiotic resistance poses a real threat to human health and may lead to the return of infectious diseases that were under control. Therefore, we at the Institute strive to educate students about the importance of following healthy behaviors, ensuring the correct use of antibiotics, and avoiding the random spread of infectious diseases.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the symposium, many questions and inquiries were raised by the attendees, which were answered comprehensively by Dr. Hoda Saad. Guidance booklets on antibiotic resistance were also distributed to attendees, with the aim of enhancing their understanding of this topic and encouraging them to spread awareness among their peers and families.
