It was created at the beginning of the 2024-2025 academic year, according to Ministerial Order No. (MT\/6911 dated 25\/7\/2024) issued by the Department of Studies, Planning, and Follow-up. It is one of the few scientific departments in the Middle Euphrates region, graduating mid-level technical personnel with a technical diploma in oil refining.
