It has been headed by several highly qualified professors, both academically and administratively, and began with two branches (Automotive and Refrigeration). Currently, it is headed by Lecturer Ahmed Hassan Tawfiq. In 1993, the Automotive branch was transferred to the Kufa Technical Institute, which was part of the state-owned austerity program (during the economic insurance period). The department focuses on student participation and training, equipping them with the practical, technical, and professional skills to work with various devices, systems, and refrigeration equipment. Applications in these areas include industrial, medical, automotive, and domestic systems, encompassing design, installation, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and maintenance. The department boasts a team of experienced, highly qualified, and renowned professors. Hundreds of students have graduated from the department, some of whom have pursued postgraduate studies and established themselves in scientific and administrative positions within the university.
