About the Department
The Department of Oil Refining Technologies was established in July 2024. It is considered one of the engineering departments at the Technical Institute of Najaf. It was inaugurated at the beginning of the academic year (2024-2025) according to the ministerial order issued by the Directorate of Studies, Planning, and Follow-up No. (M T/6911 on 25/7/2024). The department is one of the rare scientific departments in the cities of the Middle Euphrates, graduating mid-level technical cadres holding a technical diploma in the field of oil refining. The department focuses on meeting the needs of the oil and industrial sectors, contributing effectively to improving the quality and production of oil and petrochemical industries in both the public and private sectors.

The department aims to be a cornerstone in technical education and practical training by preparing specialized technical cadres equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the needs of the local and regional labor market in the fields of oil refining and petrochemicals.

Department Objectives
- Provide students with scientific and applied knowledge in the field of petroleum industries and enhance creative thinking skills.
- Teach specialized subjects related to crude oil composition and its derivatives, along with its physical and chemical properties.
- Train students on operating and maintaining mechanical equipment used in oil refining.
- Prepare students to work with occupational and health safety standards.
- Enable students to perform laboratory tests on raw materials and products according to international specifications.
- Integrate computer and internet technologies in education and training to create an advanced and sustainable learning environment.
