The Information Technology Division was established with the founding of the Al-Najaf Technical Institute in 1978 under the name of the Electronic Computing Center. It is considered one of the most important divisions of the institute due to its significant impact on the institution's operations amidst the technological advancements the world is currently witnessing. The division has provided many services to the institute, the province's departments, and Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, including:
• Organizing workshops and courses in the fields of computer operation, installation, and maintenance, along with service, scientific, engineering, administrative programs, and various software systems related to information technology, computers, and networks.
• Designing, developing, and managing the institute's website.
• Providing all academic staff, technicians, and students with university email accounts.
• Implementing the optical cable network project, connecting all scientific departments, divisions, and units, providing them with high-speed internet lines, and maintaining them.
• Equipping the division's laboratories with an internal network.
• Establishing a camera network covering all institute buildings, connecting it to the optical cable network, and maintaining it.
• Organizing proficiency courses and conducting examinations for postgraduate applicants within Iraq.
• Serving as a center for the INELT National English Language Test.
The organizational structure of the division consists of five units: Administrative Affairs Unit, Training and Technical Support Unit, Computer and Network Maintenance Unit, Website Unit, and Systems and Software Unit. Additionally, the division includes twelve laboratories and a language lab to train students. The Information Technology Division has ensured that these laboratories are exemplary, equipped with modern devices that meet academic requirements. These labs are managed by an experienced and highly skilled technical staff.
