The department was established in 1978 and includes the construction and building branch. Students graduate from this department in large numbers as intermediate technical staff. The department handles all fieldwork, laboratory work, engineering consultations, and design preparation in the field of civil engineering through the Scientific and Consulting Services Office. The department graduates more than 40 students annually. The graduates work in several areas, most importantly: constructing buildings, irrigation and drainage channels, sewage and water systems, and roads and airports. Ten percent of the top students continue their studies at Iraqi colleges.
