The department was established in the academic year 1995–1996 with a specialization in "Legal Administration." Its curriculum includes the teaching of administrative and legal subjects, based on the requirements and needs of judicial, legal, and other governmental departments for this specialization. The department has provided these entities with competent graduates.
Currently, many of the department's alumni work in various types of courts, while others have been appointed in legal departments of state offices in Najaf Governorate. The department continues to supply government departments with skilled graduates.
Teaching is conducted by a specialized faculty of competent lecturers in administration and law, holding master's and doctoral degrees.
